The British Independent Retailer's Association (Bira) is asking its members to participate in the latest State of the Workforce Survey by People 1st International.

The survey, which is open to all employers in the UK retail, hospitality, tourism, travel and aviation sectors, aims to investigate skills gaps and workforce issues across the visitor economy sector.

The results of the survey will help employers to better address their workforce needs, directly informing the decisions they make about skills development.

"For over 20 years, our research has helped shape the delivery of workforce initiatives and people strategies," said Jane Rexworthy, Executive Director of People 1st International. "This survey is a vital opportunity for Bira members to share their insights and help us to understand better the challenges facing the sector."

People 1st International will donate 20p to charity for every completed survey response.

The survey is a mix of free-text and multiple-choice questions and should take around 15 minutes to complete.

"We urge all Bira members to take part in this important survey," said Andrew Goodacre, Chief Executive of Bira. "Your insights will help us to inform Government and improve the future skills of the independent retail sector."
