Supporting good causes

As an organisation we look for opportunities to work with charities whenever and however we can.

Over the years we’ve supported a number of good causes, organisations and initiatives that have made a real difference in local and global communities.

As a business built on strong principles, we believe that community is at the absolute heart of what we do, and we know thriving communities are key to the continued success of our members. So, we look in particular to initiatives that share our community values around people, retail, health, environment and education.

We’re proud to support The Rainy Day Trust

Retail Trust was established in 1832 as the only charity in the UK to look after people working in retail.

The Rainy Day Trust is the only charity which exists solely to help people who have worked in the UK’s home improvement and enhancement industry.

Good Thing - Donate unwanted items

A Good Thing is a brilliant new way to avoid landfill and give back to your wonderful local community. When it was set up just three years ago, the idea was simple: businesses are generating too much waste, while many charities are in need of more resources. What if the two could be connected?

A Good Thing was set up by husband and wife Richard and Cathy Benwell in 2020, and its pilot was launched in 2021 in the Thames Valley area. The results were fantastic, and the team is now excited to have scaled the idea to charities and businesses right across the UK. It works with 200 businesses and over 1,000 charities all across the country and welcomes new members every day.
