The bira Community Awards
bira has introduced these awards to recognise retailers who have gone the extra mile and made a difference within their community or raised funds for charitable causes.
Local Hero Award
We want to hear from retailers who are an integral part of their community. Do you or any of your staff: volunteer to help other members of the community less fortunate than you? Help out or sponsor a local sports team? Did you help your community recover from the riots in August? Whether it is you or someone you know; an individual or a team who’s given something back to the area they work or live in, please enter and you could be our Local Hero.
Winners will be judged on the following criteria:
- Positive impact made on community
- Active involvement in community
- Responsible business practise demonstrated
- Originality of community ventures.
Charitable Champion Award
These awards will recognise an individual or team that has gone to great lengths to raise money for a worthy cause. Whether that is climbing Mount Everest, jumping out of a plane or fundraising efforts in your shop, bira will reward those independent retailers who have shown great commitment and worked tirelessly to raise funds for any good cause around the world.
Winners will be judged on the following criteria:
- Level of fundraising effort demonstrated
- Level of initiative shown
- Relevance of charity to the fundraiser/s
- Funds raised
Do you or any of your staff meet these requirements? If so, please click on the link below and fill out the entry form.

Please note that the entry form requires some additional information, so please e-mail or post these documents to kate.perrett@bira.co.uk.
The prize for each of the awards is £1,000 donation to the charity of the winners choice.
