Our committees
Being a member of a bira committee gives you invaluable reward.
Your business aims are also ours. We can understand where and how you want your business to go, because we're going the same way. Let's work on it together.
Our committees and their members play a vital role in the development of the organisation to keep up with the developing needs of our members and the changing retail landscape. Committees range from specialist divisional association comittees to lobbying and service development, such as training.
Committee members network with their peers, receiving valuable and timely information about current and forthcoming issues affecting the retail world, as well as best practice. They also establish professional relationships with individuals from other geographic areas and disciplines, broadening their knowledge and perspectives. And these relationships often are maintained for years, providing opportunities to informally share experiences, discuss mutual problems, and obtain guidance; an invaluable source of information and learning.
The commitment required varies between committees, depending on the current agenda and level of participation. Most committees meet only a few times each year. On occasion, some members also represent the national view at European and international meetings.
If you'd like to know more about getting involved in one or more of our proactive committees, please contact the CEO, Alan Hawkins, via Jill Austin email jill.austin@bira.co.uk or telephone 0121 446 6688.
